Mrs. Tawnya Hawkins, 1st Grade Teacher at B.A. Winans School was recently named The 2022 MCASE General Education Teacher of the Year. Tawnya Hawkins was nominated for the award by her school principal, Patti Durgan. Mrs. Hawkins was recognized on Monday, March 21, 2022 at the School Administrators of Montana Awards Banquet.
The Distinguished Service Award was presented through the Montana Council of Administrators of Special Education (MCASE). The MCASE looks to recognize general education teachers who embrace diversity in ALL learners including those with exceptionalities, believe ALL students can succeed, are collaborative, and strive to meet the instructional needs of each student. Principal, Patti Durgan wrote about Mrs. Hawkins’ years of welcoming and successfully working with exceptional students as well as her contributions to Livingston schools in STEM education. Mrs. Hawkins has been a teacher with Livingston Public Schools for 24 years.
